Committee work

In May of 2010, the Special Committee on Anti-Terrorism was established and I was elected Chair.  The committee was constituted to study specific government bills and the issue of the threat of terrorism in Canada or affecting Canadians within or outside the country.  The link below provides all information relating to the committee including its membership, orders of reference, transcripts of past meetings and contact information.

In December of 2009, Senator Art Eggleton (Chair) and myself (Vice-Chair) of the Sub-committee on Cities released its final report entitled:

My first Notice of Motion in 2005 was a request to undertake a comprehensive study on poverty in rural Canada . After more than two years of investigation, interviews and hearings, the Standing Senate Committee on Agricultural and Forestry released its final report.

I also introduced a Motion in 2006 requesting that the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee examine the evacuation of Canadian citizens from Lebanon during the crisis of that summer. The final report was released in May, 2007:
